Essay

An approach to continuous contractions of finite-dimensional Lie algebras is developed. All one-parametric continuous contractions for the complex and real low-dimensional Lie are constructed. Some known statements and hypotheses are disproved. Levels and co-levels of low-dimensional Lie algebras with respect to contractions are described. A complete set of inequivalent realizations of real unsolvable Lie algebras of dimension not greater than four is constructed. Differential invariants of Lie algebras of vector fields on the real plane are obtained.
