Voos O. Military-engineering providing of the defensive policy of Byzanty in the Northern part of the Black Sea (end of IV - beginning of VII centuries).

After Crimean and Taman' Peninsulas entered the sphere of interests of Byzanty, romans began the huge military construction with the purpose of creating engineering shelter of main forposts of the Empire (Cherson and Bospor), and South-Western Crimean inhabited by byzanty's allies. The romans rebuilt the shelters of the seaside fortresses, formed the system of engineering defence on the southern coast of the peninsula and built the protective border on the boundary line of the Crimean Mountains and steppes. The result of military-political and military-engineering activity of byzantiums became the creating of separate border district (ducat) in Tavrica and Bospor in the VI centuries.
