The object of the research: Bulgarian prose of the 1960-1990s (works by V.Popov, Y.Radichkov, Z.Zlatanov and others). The aim: to research the specificity of the manifestations of silence on the different levels of the literary text on the material of the works by leading contemporary Bulgarian prose writers. Practical significance: the discover-ing of the peculiarities of silence as the communi-cative phenomenon, proving its special role in the space of literature, improving the critical method-ologies by taking under regard the non-verbal di-mension of the text. Methods: semiotic, phe-nomenological, receptive, narratological.
