The thesis represents a comprehensive analysis of the data contained in Arabic biographic dictionaries on prominent personalities, whose life and activities were connected with Eastern Caucuses in the period of 7th – 13th centuries. The author has introduced into scholarly circulation a wealth of original material on the history of Islam in this region of the Caliphate during the period of 7th – 13th centuries. The thesis also accounts for hitherto understudied period of 11th – 12th centuries in the history of Arabic-Islamic religious and cultural traditions of Eastern Caucasus.
