Plavutska I. Social and political satire of I.Franko and W.Thackeray: typological correspondences

The object: W.Thackeray's fiction: the novel "Vanity Fair", the collections of sketches "The Book of Snobs", "Yelloplush Papers" and I.Franko's satirical stories, the narration "Boa constrictor" and the novels ("Boryslav smiyetsia", "Dlya domashnioho ohnyshcha", "Osnovy suspilnosti"), where the satire functions as one of the existing modes of reality creation". The objective of the dissertation: the investigation of W.Thackeray and I.Franko's satirical prose and also such pieces of art of the Ukrainian writer where satire appears as one of the existed modelling factors to reveal typological cor-respondences. The practical value of the research: the obtained results can be used in special courses on Comparative Literature Studies, in general courses of Foreign Literature and Literature of English speaking countries. The methods: historical and typological, comparative and also biographical partially.
