Essay

Mode of deformation of a bar under torsion. To develop an efficient mathematical tool for investigation of bars with a polygonal profile of general form. Methods of research are those of the mathematical theory of elasticity. A special-purpose method for finding the torsional characteristics of multiply connected bars with the arbitrarily multiangular contour (degenerate boundaries included) has been worked out. The analysis of several widely used bars with arbitrarily oriented cracks has been carried out. Materials of the dissertation have been deeded over to PE "Ivchenko-Progress" to employ and apply. Sphere of use is the mechanical engineering.
