The dissertation deals with the study of ingression and inchoation as the constituents of inception, their place in the aspectual-temporal paradigm of Modern English as well as to modelling the functional-semantic field of inception. It identifies the structure of the ingressive and inchoative micro-fields as the centre of the functional-semantic field of inception in Modern English, singles out the peculiarities of inceptive verbs combinability, clarifies the semantics of inception and elaborates the typology of inceptive predicates.
