This research reveals semantic, cognitive and narrative peculiarities of personage anxiety representation in English fiction. The paper focuses on the phenomenon of anxiety as an emotional state viewed from a semiotic, cognitive and narrative perspectives. Integrated linguistic and psychological model of anxiety that brings together psychological peculiarities of this state and its linguistic nominations has been introduced. As a result of this research, semiotic typology of personage anxiety textual signals has been concretized and cognitive mechanisms of anxiety realization in English fiction revealed. Textual means for presenting consecutive stages of anxiety development - pre-reflectional, reflectional, and reactive, as well as variability of personage anxiety metamorphoses and respective narrative transformations are established. Three types of anxiety as personage mental disorders specified through psycho-physiological, behavioral, mental and psychic manifestations have been singled out.
