Essay

The dissertation is devoted to research of structural and grammatical peculiarities of derivation of terms in the modern Korean language on the material of its legal terminology. Research on the above-mentioned theme is carried out by studying the language situation on the Korean peninsula both in historical, and in synchronic aspects, definition of the role of loanwords in filling legal terminology of Korean language, research of specificity of word-formation in Sino-Korean lexicon of the Korean language which is entailed with classification of Sino-Korean words, based on the ways of word-formation. The main attention in the dissertation is paid to disclosing of structure and semantics of terms-composites and terms-lexicalized word-combinations by figuring out the corresponding word-formation models for them; and also to bringing to light the productive resources of terminological potential. In our work the terminological lexicon of the legal sphere of the Korean language is systematized as a set of term-derivatives which are formed according to the certain word-formation models. In the dissertation a number of actual theoretical problems of word-formation of the Korean language within its Sino-Korean layer is also specified.
