Essay

The dissertation devoted to the study of an effect of the distinguishing features in structure of bentonites and carbonates on the colloid-chemical properties and structure formation of the aluminosilicate and carbonate-ferrioxide disperse systems. The mineral composition of bentonites has been studied, and the aluminosilicate structural formulae have been calculated. It has been established that the bentonites of new Ukrainian deposits are represented by dioctahedron smectites: Al-Fe-beidellite (Ilnitsa) and Al-Fe-montmorillonites (Tomashpol, Neporotovo, Varvarovka). An effect of the ion exchange, thermal and acidic treatment on their colloid-chemical properties has been investigated. The conceptions about a role of superdispersed particles of smectites and carbonates in structure formation of the aqueous aluminosilicate and carbonate-ferrioxide dispersions have been developed. It has been established the prevailing formation of magnesium ferrites through blockage of the calcium carbonate particles bythe superdispersed smectites with simultaneous interaction of the superdispersed magnesium hydroxycarbonate with the surface of haematites and ferrites. The investigation results can be employed in the production processes of high-grade drilling fluids and mud mudding solutions.
