3. The thesis is dedicated to the improvement of operational properties and the design of a rail car and the structure of the upper part of the railway track with due account of their interaction within a section having an isolated rugged butt. The thesis pioneers the discussion of interrelation between the depressions of the carrying track rail under the first sleeper on the stage of their increase resulting from operational properties and the design of a vehicle and the structure of the upper part of the railway track regarding the transport mechanical complex 'rail car - track rail at the point of isolated rugged butt'. On the basis of numerical study and taking into account the functions obtained the problem of defining the mechanical parameters of a rail car and track rail of both rational and optimum kind has been solved which provide the predetermined parameters of their interaction.
