Essay

The dissertation investigates the process of dynamic strain in cylindrical compression springs. The objective of the study is developing a complex of universal computational methods for dynamic analysis of such springs. The study uses analytical, numerical and numerical-analytical methods in mathematical modelling of the spring action. The samples of springs used in fuel feed devices in diesel engines were experimentally investigated on no-motor test benches. The theory of vibration of elastic mechanical systems with distributed parameters has been advanced in the developed and substan-tiated mathematical models of the spring as well as in the algebraic methods of defining its spectrum. Wide application of numerical-analytical methods allowed to refine the physical and mathematical models used and, at the same time, to avoid making calculations more involved. Based on the re-search results, a program package was developed for analysing steel com-pression springs. It is used in engine and railway car building, which is sub-stantiated by respective references. The results obtained are recommended for application at R&D institutes and other organisations that conduct re-search in the dynamic characteristics of cylindrical springs.
