Essay

The thesis is delicated to the investigation of the town setllements of Northern-Eastern Hungary in the 11-the first quarter of the 16 centuries. The special attention is paid to contemporary towns and villages of the Transcarpathian region.The written, linguistic and archeolohical sources as wellas the level and perspective of the problem’s scientific research are analyzed. The theis reveals the causes of appearance of the settlements which then have arisen into the status of villages and townes because of the foreign colonization and enforcement of the comitat system of the Hungarian kingdom. The autor gives the legislative characteristics of the town settlements, their interrelations with the feudal power.King and the nobles the privileges confirmed the privileges the townssettlements in the comitats of Bereg, Abauj, Sabolch, Satmar, Ugocsa, Maramorosh, Ung (75 towns settlements, villages and towns).The particular role in the development of the settlements of the region belonged to hospits.
