Potymko O. Development of medicine in Lviv in XIV-XVIIIth c.: historiography to the problem.

In the dissertation a complex research is conducted and the primary tendencies in formation of historiography of the medical occupation in the Lviv of XIV-XVIIIth cent are traced. The trends are determined according to which the thematics of historiographic research was being formed. The publications are analised that reveal sanitary-and-hygienic public welfare in the city, the state of medical and charitable guardianship, development of guild and out-of-guild medicine. It is revealed that in contrast with sporadical highlighting of the problems raised the genesis of Lviv water supply system, of city hospitals and separate parochian hospitals, as well as the chemist guild are uncovered in a rather detailed way. A dictionary of archaic and rare medical lexis, the list of Lviv medical practitioners in XIV-XVIIIth cent are compiled, a new classification scheme of division into medical and charitable institutions of Lviv is suggested.
