Telukov O. Epidemiology, diagnostic, clinic and treatment of maniac states taking into account circannual and circadian rhythms

In the dissertation epidemiological research of maniac disorders in a general population of the Poltava region for the period 1967-2000 has been carried out. The features of influence of circannual rhythms and heliogeophysical factors on frequency of development and relapses of maniac disorders were investigated, the role of social-demographic and biological factors in formation and current of such affective pathology. On the basis of complex study of 117 patients with maniac symptoms from different nature and have been stationed on inspection and treatment in psychiatric hospital, the clinic-psychopathological, pathopsychological and biorhythmological features of patients with mania had been established. The presence of desynchronization of physiological functions in patients, densities of biorhythmological types depending on the types of maniac syndrome, clinic forms and patient's pathopsychological characteristics have been established. The system of treatment and prophylactic ways to correction andprevention of maniac disorders relapses on the basis of valproates administered taking into account chronotherapy and chronoprophylactic principles were made.
