Essay

The thesis is devoted to the investigation of the chemical (hexamethyldisilazane) and adsorption (the substances of phenol nature) modifications of the silica surface influenced on its hydration properties as well as the study of the hydration properties of pure human serum albumin and albumin adsorbed on the surface of highly dispersed silica under the action of various solvents. At the first time, it was compared the heat of immersion of silica in water obtained using the classical method (microcalorimetry) and the surface energy of interfacial water that was calculated using 1H NMR spectroscopy. The correlations between the heat of immersion and the surface energy of interfacial water for partially hydrophobizated silica were established. The influence of the concentrations of chemically adsorbed trimethylsilyl groups on the hydration properties of silica was stated. The hydration properties of silica surface after the adsorption modifications by the substances of phenol nature as namely, uninuclear(phloroglucine, gallic acid) and binuclear (1,5- and 1,6-dihydroxynaphthalene) were clarified. The hydration characterictics of pure human serum albumin and albumin adsorbed on the silica surface in the presence of different solvents were studied.
