This dissertation is dedicated to the pressing problem of enhancing the trustworthiness of defining the degree of outburst hazard in anomalous areas that is detected by the available methods of forecasting outburst hazard. It has been established that the trustworthy estimation of the degree of outburst hazard in anomalous areas of Donbas collieries requires the assessment of the following three factors of outburst hazard: stress-and-strain condition of the coal seam in the vicinity of the face, as well as gas and physical and mechanical properties of the coal seam. The results of the investigations have been taken into account when working out specification documents for the mining industry, and applied for estimating the degree of outburst hazard in anomalous areas of Donbas collieries.
