The lexico-semantic group "universe" in the German language. The aim is to define the peculiarities of the words semanties development in the lexico-semantic group "universe" in Old, Middle and Early New High German. The methods are comparative-historical, genetic, probabilistic-statistical, descriptive. The definition of the main meanings development and detachment of their diachronic peculiarities on the semantic level in different periods of the German language existence. The results of the investigation may be employed in theoretical courses in history and lexicology of the German language. The sphere of usage - higher school.
