Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to the study of the national policy of the Czechoslovakian Republic during the period of 1918 - 1929. The process of formation of the Czech and Slovak national state in 1918 - 1919 is analyzed as well as its policy towards national minorities. The constitutional basis of Czechoslovakian national policy is studied as it ensured the equality of citizens of all nationalities, was guaranteed national and cultural autonomy to all nationalities and the Transcarpathian region was guaranteed territorial autonomy. The peculiarities of the Czechoslovakian policy regarding Slovakia and the national minorities in 1920 - 1925 is characterized; this policy was aimed at the development of the Slovak and Transcarpathian region, assisted in national formation of the Slovakians, ensured civil equality and cultural rights of all the representatives of the national communities. The attempt to solve the national issue in the Czech and Slovak republic in 1926 - 1929 is described; it led to theestablishment of the government of the interregional coalition in which the representatives of the right Czechoslovakian, Sudet-German and the Glinka Slovak People Parties were involved.
