The objects are poetic peculiarity of Mary Shelley's in the short stories. The aims are to considerate of an art originality of Mary Shelley's "Tales and Stories" in the aspect of changes of aesthetic strategy of the writer and to fixing of a place of the writer's story in the literary romantic heritage. Principles and methods of complex analysis of the art text, contextual analysis, method of culturological poetology. Nevertheless that part of Mary Shelley's literary heritage turns out to be very significant for understanding the process of aesthetic transformations which the author of "Frankenstein" as well as the Romantic literature in general underwent on the border of Romanticism and Realism epochs. A new vision of Romantic plots and motives is expressed in M.Shelley's stories and tales. Some essential poetical features of prose (philosophical, intellectual, subjective and lyrical) are analyzed. Her short stories preserving Romantic topics and imbibing new artistic tendencies have provided a new context for interpreting Mary Shelley's literary heritage.
