Essay

The object of research: foreign policy of Great Britain of the 2nd part of XIX century. The aim of research: to investigate the European policy of Great Britain in 1863-1878 years as a complete direction of British Foreign policy and to define its specificity.The Subjec of research: european policy of Great Britain in 1863-1878 years. The methods of research: problem-chronological, comparative-historical, retrospective, historical-genetic. The results of research and novelty: in the middle of 60th years of XIX century the tendency of realization of a cautious policy in Europe has finally won in Great Britain. It gave preferences to diplomatic not to military intervention in affairs of continent and was founded in the first half of XIX century. The beginning of changes in the British policy in Europe was participation of Great Britain in the Polish question of 1863. In the summer of 1864 Great Britain has reconsidered the traditional European policy and has proclaimed a new one - "non-intervention policy". "Non-intervention policy" in the whole did not answer to traditional English interests in Europe, appeared unable to protect them and has resulted to that the international authority of Great Britain in Europe has considerably decreased. The sphere of usage: results of research can be used for creation of generalizing works on the problems of international relations and the European policy of second half of XIX century, of educational and methodical manuals, teaching of special courses at faculties of universities.
