Thesis is aimed at improvement of stability characteristics of three-unit articulated train at the maximum permissible operation mode by means of choice of optimal values of mass and compositing parameters of tractor and semitrailers (trailers). The multimass spatial mathematical model of the operated driving of articulated train has been developed. Procedure for selection of mass, geometrical and design parameters of the three-unit articulated trains according to train stability in the maximum modes of operation has been used by the Association of International Carriers of Ukraine for the development and service test of articulated train pre-production models, as well as by Vehicle Construction and Conversation Department of the State Road Transport Research Institute ("Derzhavtotransndiproekt").
