Essay

Dissertation is devoted to the research of the mechanisms of ionizing radiation influence on haemopoiesis and leucogenesis at the late period after exposure. Cellular-molecular changes of the expression of linear differentiation and activation antigens of immune and hematopoietic cells are revealed in patients with MDS. Research of apoptotic processes is first conducted in radiation exposed MDS patients. Deviations are shown in the "apoptosis program" of neutrofils in MDS that include the decline of sensitivity to the action of apoptosis inductors and accompanying changes of expression of surface antigens and structural molecular alterations of cytoplasmic membrane. The quantitative and high-quality indexes of apoptosis are described in correlation with the indexes of proliferation activity that became the basis for the estimation of reactivity of immune cells of patients on MDS, in a late period after an irradiation exposure. Obtained results can be used for the increase of efficiency of diagnostic assays of the radiation-induced immunological and haematological changes and to serve as a base for future development of optimal strategy for the follow-up and treatment of patients, which suffered after accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1986.
