Essay

.Dissertation is dedicated to research of social and political, historical and artistic conditions of requiem development, liturgical, genre and stylistic construct: on of musical aspects of catholic funeral tradition. The author determines the whole theoretical conditionality of in-depth study of funeral service by means of analysis of theological, philosophical, cultural and musical works. The main stages in requiem development fre being determined – as a catholic mass and as a genre. The latest history of requiem offered, where the main phases of its development are outlined. The general typology of requiem is worked out. The requiem genre models study in works of ukrainian composers of millenniums frontier allows to prove the great importans of author’s musical and stylistic tendencies of the funeral tradition.
