Thesis is dedicated to the research of relations between Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic churches in the context of the social-political, national and spiritual life on the Ukrainian-Polish borderland in 1939 - 1946. The evolution of the state policy in the religious and ethnic-confessional spheres, depending on the geopolitical circumstances and war events is being traced, the position of Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic hierarchy and the clergy in the opposition of their faithful during the war period is being analyzed, the religious aspect of the Ukrainian-Polish transfer 1944 - 1946 is being revealed. As a result of research the author has come to the following conclusion: the transformation of the relations between Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic churches during the World War II has been determined mainly by the social-political factors. Ethnic-confessional changes on the Ukrainian-Polish borderland in 1939 - 1946 had found their reflection in the modern nation and religious situation in Ukraine and Poland.
