Essay

Phase equilibria in the Al-Ni-C system have been experimentally studied at pressures from 5.5 to 8.0 GPa on samples prepared by quenching method. The thermodynamic calculation has been executed and for the first time the phase diagram of the Al-C system and the melting diagram of the Al-Ni-C system have been constructed at 8 and 6 GPa, respectively. The diamond crystallization regularities have been established in the Al-Ni-C system. Physical and mechanical properties of diamond powders synthesized in that system have been examined.
