Object: The novels by M.Yohanssen "The adventures of Mak-Leiston, Harry Rupert and others" and W.Gombrovitch "Ferdydurke". Purpose: to prove, that in Ukrainian and Polish literature of the period between two wars, carnival literary tradition was realized into specific texts, namely in the debut novels by Yohanssen and Gombrovitch; to trace its specificity of expression. Practical value: use of the thesis materials for the preparation of special courses for students of the philological department. Methods: historical-comparative, typological, formalistic, structural-functional, elements of narrative analysis and receptive aesthetic.
