Essay

The thesis is devoted to identification of indications to surgery in children with nasal septum deviation on the grounds of clinical, electro-acoustic and electrophysiological findings and to improvement of septolasty by development of new and modernization of existing techniques. According to the data of rheoencephalography in children with nasal septum deviation detected were disorders of cerebral hemodynamics both in carotid and vertebrobasilar systems, namely, enhancement of cerebral vessels tone and venous outflow deterioration as well as hearing loss of conductive character observed in the standard frequency range (0.125-8 kHz) in 78.3 % of subjects and in the broadened (9-16kHz) frequency range - in 95%. Improvement or renewal of impaired earlier cerebral hemodinamics, hearing as well as respiratory and other functions of the nose occurred after septoplasty. Science-based and broadened was the list of indications to septoplasty in children making allowance for local and general manifestations ofnasal septum deformation. Developed and improved were new tissue -retaining septoplasty techniques with preservation of "growth region" and efficient postoperative methods of haematomaprophylaxis. Suggested were devices for making cartilage plates and rheoencephalography interpretation.
