Essay

This thesis is about overall investigation of autonomic homeostasis in 12-15 year-children's pyelonephritis. Initial autonomic tone by Wein testing, heart rate variability (in combination with orthostatic test) and urinary 24-hours vanillilmandelic acid excretion were determined in 131 children with pyelonephritis and in 35 healthy children of the same age. The author studied autonomic changes as risk factors of acute and chronic pyelonephritis and renal insufficiency. He assessed the value of neurogenic urine flow disturbances in formation of the autonomic pattern in pyelonephritis and researched relations between sympathetic activity and renal functions. There was investigated influence of renoprotective therapy with ACE inhibitor fosinopril on autonomic state in children with chronic pyelonephritis in this study.
