The object of research: ukrainian historical literature which can be examined in quality sources for research of figure of prince Dmitry Vishnevetsky. The aim of research: lighting a person and activity of Dmitry Vishnevetsky in the context of Ukrainian historiography of the 19th-the early 21st century. The subject of research: analysis of development of Ukrainian historiography, devoted research of life and activity of prince Dmitry Vishnevetsky. Methods of research: problem chronologic, synchronous, comparative, critical, biographic.Theoretical results and novelty: on the basis of the historiographical analysis of the research carried out by V. Antonovich, O. Apanovich, D. Bagaly, D. Bantush-Kamensky, M.Vasilenko, L. Vynar, V. Golobutsky, M. Grushevsky, K. Guslisty, D.Doroshenko, I. Kamanin, M. Kostomarov, P. Kulish, V. Lutsiv, M. Maximovich, M.Markevich, U. Mytsyk, V. Sergiychuk, D. Yavornitsky, N. Iakovenko and others, the aspirant considers the problem of the prince's genealogy, his mission of Cherkasy and Kaniv Governor, his being Hetman of the Army of Zaporizzha, his service in Moscow, his trip to Turkey, the raid on Moldova.The sphere of use: teaching of courses is for history of Ukraine, historiography, special courses from history of Ukrainian the cossacks; preparation of scientific labours and aids of trains.
