Siromakha S. Surgery treatment for multiple ventricular septal defects.

Dissertation is dedicated to the study of surgical anatomy, methods of surgical treatment, its immediate and late results in patients with congenital heart diseases, which are associated with multiple ventricular septal defects. Also it's devoted to the development and improvement of diagnostics and surgical correction of this pathology. As the results of the investigation it was found that the most frequent combination of defects was the association of cono-ventricular with muscular defects, the most complex form of the malformation was "Swiss cheese" defects. The optimal method of surgical treatment for isolated multiple ventricular septal defects is primary total correction of the malformation. Stage repair of congenital heart defects with multiple VSDs is indicated in cases of high risk for the primary total correction, i.e. "Swiss cheese" defects, acute forms of hypotrophy, associated decompensated extracardial malformations etc. There were improved and defined optimal methods of diagnostics andsurgical repair for multiple VSDs depending on the surgical anatomy. Immediate results, intermediate and long-term follow-up of surgical treatment for multiple VSDs, also complication of the early postoperative period and indications for reoperations were studied in this work.
