he thesis object – the simple sentence in the Old English language. The aim of the thesis – the determination of syntactic, semantic, cognitive-grammatical and functional communicative features of the simple sentence in the Old English language. The methods of the investigation - traditional, generative, cognitive and communicative analysis. The theoretical novelty: for the fist time mental schemes and their Old English types are determined, the Old English simple sentence argument-role potential is systematized, the dependence ОV / VО basic word-order types variation is fixed in the simple sentence in accordance with mental scheme type and its structural-semantic contents, basic functional communicative (theme-rheme) configurations of the simple sentence are modeled in the prose of different genres, the genre specific realization of ОV / VО basic word-order simple sentence types is determined. The analysis reveals syntactic parameters of the Old English simple sentence and its constituents. The theoretical importance: the results of investigation (research work) made a valuable contribution to contemporary cognitive linguistic, in the theory of sentence, historical syntax and historical semantics of the English language. The practical importance. The principal (basic) theoretical thesis and results may be used in courses of the introduction to the Germanic linguistics, the History of the English Language, the Theoretical Grammar of the English Language, and also, in special courses of cognitive linguistic and functional communicative syntax, further research works.
