The objective of the research Ц textual fragments from W.S. MaughamТs novels, where the concept of CREATIVE PERSONALITY is embodied. The aim of the research is to reveal the specificity of the concept of CREATIVE PERSONALITY embodiment in W.S. MaughamТs novels via the analysis of linguistic and cognitive mechanisms employed in construing this concept. The methods of the research: semantic, conceptual, context-interpretative and quantitative analysis. The scientific novelty: the integrated research of the concept of CREATIVE PERSONALITY has been done on archetypal, conceptual and verbal levels; the mechanisms of contrastive stylistic means formation have been revealed; the types of conceptual oxymoron have been exposed. The theoretical importance: the results of this work are the contribution to linguistic poetics and cognitive linguistics, they enrich the cognitive trope theory, promote the further working of conceptual modeling and contribute to the authorТs style research.
