Essay

Object - refractive in children. Purpose - to study the particularities of refractive formation in children, living in polluted district (РD) by radiation. Methods: visometry, study of binocular vision, absolute accommodation volume, near point of convergention, refractometry, anthropometry, statistic. For the first time the faster emmetropization in children aged 7-12 y/o born after Chernobyl accident and living in РD were established in comparison with similar children from NPD. There was observed the refractogenesis delay in children of 13-16 years (1981-1986) from РD. There was established the higher risk of hyperopia (in 2,3 times) in children aged 15-16,5 y/o from РD, compared with children of the same age from NPD. The risk of myopia is higher in 1,9 times in children from РD than in children of the same age from NPD. Higher frequency of mixed аstigmatism in РD (1,6%) is established in comparison with NPD (0,45%). Groups of risk of myopia among schoolchildren living in РD (increases in 1,5-3 times compared with NPD) are revealed: presence of digestive path diseases, organs of breathing and hearing, pathologies of connective tissue, allergic diseases. The results have been adopted at the Zhitomir Regional Paediatric Hospital and Perschotravnevaya Divisional Hospital, Ovruch, Zhitomir region. The sphere of application: medicine, ophthalmology.
