The thesis comprises a complex historiographical analysis of archival and published sources, as well as of scientific literature on the problem of formation and evolution of social and political views of M. Shapoval and their realization in his historical concepts. A complex historiographical appraisal of M. Shapoval's creative heritage is presented, the place and role of his historical work in experience of grounding the political struggle theory and practice, formation of concepts of Ukrainian state renascence and securing national interests of the Ukrainian state is defined.
