Essay

The thesis research was aimed at analysis of the establishment of social policy as a part of public policy and classifications of social policy in modern political science. Social policy of such countries as United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, United States of America, Brazil, Japan, New Zealand that represent liberal, corporative and social-democratic models was examined during the study. Among the main trends that were determined by study are: introducing the community approach to the social services' provision; involving of non-governmental and private organizations to the social services' provision; implementing market approach to social insurance programs; introducing private pension schemes; strengthening of means-tested approach to welfare programs that substitute the solidaristic one; diminishing the trade unions' role in the labor regulation issues; increasing investments into education and turning the nature of labor to 'knowledge-based' and flexible. At the same time the industrialized countries preserve main features of the national models of welfare, social policy tools and sources for social policy financing.
