Essay

The thesis focuses on the complex analysis of cooperative speech behaviour of the participants of communication in Modern English family discourse in terms of symmetric / asymmetric relations. The main strategies and tactics of communicants in family informative (make-know) and prescriptive (make-do) types of dialogical discourse, marked by such sociolinguistic factors as gender and age, contributing to the cooperative interaction have been highlighted. Neutral, gender-preferential and age-preferential tactics have been distinguished, and their actualization on the lexical-semantic and syntactic levels of language hierarchy has been traced. It has been shown that within the framework of one and the same tactics, lingual means of its realization in the two types of family dialogical discourse are different due to the gender and age parameters of interlocutors.
