Essay

The object of research is a process of propagation of the surface electromagnetic wave which propagate along the interface of two periodic structures. The purpose of the research: the theoretical investigation of electrodynamic properties of electromagnetic surface waves that propagate along the interface of two different layered-periodic structures. Methods of research: the theoretical analysis of bulk and surface waves zone spectrum is based on the solution of Maxwell's equations for each layers and constitutive law with taking into account the boundary condition. Theoretical and practical new results: the surface waves which propagate along the interface of two layered-periodic structures are first considered. It has been shown, that in the case of contact of two semiconductor lattices, placed in the external magnetic field, new characteristic frequencies to which the dispersion curves of surface waves asymptotically tend to are appeared. The propagation of helicon waves in a periodic-semiconductorstructure is first considered. Surface waves can be used as a information transmission along the interface of layered medium in the information system. The field of application: the technics of infra-red, optical, x-ray region for information processing
