Pidporinova K. Sonata in N.Medtner’s creative work as reflection of the composer’s idea-artistic conception

The thesis is dedicated to comprehension of N.Medtner sonata legacy viewed in aspect of the author’s philosophy of music. The artistic world outlook of the composer is examined in the context of philosophical and music-theoretical ideas of his time. The thesis gives reasons for the author’s propensity for sonata as genre and form which makes the basis of his artistic and aesthetic ideas. Division of the musician’s creative work into periods is made anew and also is given typology of his piano sonatas. The algorithm of the master’s artistic process is elicited. There are determined such pivotal ideas of the sonata compositions as triadity, Urpflanze (Goethe), symmetry. Also is revealed evolution of the composer’s thinking which is notable for its linear and spiral character. Multidimensional Medtner’s dialogue with the cultural tradition, conditioned by the synthesizing type of the author’s thought, gives ground for creation of novelty as an attribute of a valuable work of art by means of method of combining set elements of traditional music language with search of original solutions in sonatas organization.
