Essay

The object of the research is the process of price formation for freight rail transport under existing comditions. The purpose of the research is the development of the theory and methodical recommendations concerning the perfection of price formation for freight railtraffic on the basis of logistics approach according to the modern demands of the transport service market with due account of the profit of railway and freight forwarders. The methods of the research comprise economic, statistic, graphic analysis, the elements of system approach, economic-mathematical. The practical importance of the results gained is vested in creating a new approach to the problems of perfection of price formation for freight rail traffic on the basis of logistics approach according to the modern demands of the transport service market with due account of the profit of railway and freight forwarders. Implementation level - Some of the statements proposed in the dissertation are taken into account while developing thecontract and local tariffs for freight traffic on Ukrainian railways. The scientific novelty of the results gained - The methodical approach to determining the optimal tariffs for freight rail traffic on the basis of the method of dominating function within the framework "demand-supply" and the modelling of the demand function at dominating supply function or the supply function at dominating demand function has been substantiated. The model of the logistic system of price formation for freight traffic has been perfected which apart from traditional pricing factors also determines freight owners' logistic requirements as to tariff rates for transport services. The methodical approaches to meeting logistic requirements as to the pricing for freight traffic with the account of inflation rate, season and month have been further elaborated. The implementation conditions of the domination of the demand or supply function in the market of freight rail traffic have been specified. The facilities of generating the demand and supply function for freight rail traffic and the methodical grounds of flexible planning of freight rail tariffs with the implementations of nomograms have been substantiated.
