Ustinovych Y. Socio-phonetic variety in the segmental structure of the English language of Boer-English bilingual speakers

The dissertation is devoted to a complex study of realization of non-standard pronunciation forms in the speech of Boer-English bilingual speakers. In the course of the research characteristic features of the Boer-English language interaction were studied, the mechanisms of the phonetic interference were displayed, the frequency of the use of the socially marked allophones was calculated. The study of the realization of the segmental level elements in the English language of the Boer-English bilingual speakers allows determining the correlation between the realization of the socio-phonetic variables and such extra-linguistic factors as parameters of the communicative situation and the speakers’ demographic characteristics.
