Essay

The dissertation reveals a conception of creative thinking of Karlheinz Stockhausen, regarded as an integral phenomenon in the culture of the second half of the XX – early XXI century. Creative thinking is considered as a composite notion, implicating a wide range of subject items – musical, artistic, scientific, philosophic and mythic-poetical. Specified is the serial type of thinking, analysed is the basic category of musical time, and defined is fundamental method of mediation. Conclusions are drawn with reference to the original texts of the composer of music-theoretical and philosophic-esthetical subject-matter, piano music composed within the period from the fifties up to the early XXI century, specifically Piano Piece XI and Natural Durations, 3rd Hour of Sound, The 24 Hours of the Day, also the compositions Groups, Measures of Time, Ascension (1st Hour of Sound, The 24 Hours of the Day), and others. On their basis, the author emphasizes integrity of the musical-philosophical world outlook and creativity of K. Stockhausen, determines constant features of composer’s creative thinking at the historical and culturological background, analyzes new aesthetics of sound, lays special emphasis to the theory of musical time and its transformation into the method of composition, displays the sources of aleatoric composition in the serial and electronic music. Also in this dissertation paper own method of mobile analysis of the aleatoric music is proposed, new terms to describe the artistic events in the New Music are worked out, and the formation of new artistic poetics of possibilities is traced.
