An object is Ukrainian publicistic literature 1989-1991. A purpose is determination of role of publicistic literature in the process of research of “blank spots” of Ukrainian history during 1989-1991. Methods – historical-chronologic, the method of periodisation, comparing, historical-typological. The problem of role of publicistic literature is complex probed 1989-1991 in the process of study of “blank spots” of Ukrainian history. Certainly basic directions of development of Ukrainian historical science the end of 1980-th to the beginning of 1990-th, the features of that time historiography situation are exposed. A sphere of the use is scientific researches and educational process.
