Essay

The paper advances a new comperehensive approach towards the investigation of verbal forms of national stereotypes expression in German and English against historical, political, economic and cultural background. It seeks to define the role of stereotypes in cross-cultural communication, to reveal sociocultural and cognitive factors that influence changes in stereotypes, and to define basic stereotype traits that are refered to in Anglo-German discourse.
