The thesis contains the results of the research carried out in order to study the problems of evaluation of and increase in competitiveness of enterprises.With the help of theoretic and methodological principles used when studying this problem we found out the evolution of theoretic views on competitiveness of enterprises as a criterion for economic development which results in a gradual change in the general attitude as to how to define ‘competitiveness of enterprises’.The analysis of theoretic and methodological principles used for defining the concept of competitiveness of enterprises which was carried out in the course of this research gave us a possibility for substantiating and generalizing its conceptual apparatus. We studied the model of integrated value chain and substantiated what models of vertical integration are chosen by enterprises when their aim is to gain and hold competitive advantages. The results of the research conducted were used as a basis for introducing a model of its deconstrtion and for formulating a new paradigm of competitive strategy of enterprises. We worked out some models for determining an integral competitiveness indicator with the help of the cluster analysis which allow to arrange enterprises depending on their financial potential and also give an opportunity to carry out evaluation, analysis and comparative connection between different trends as to how their competitive positions on the market are changing. The mechanism for determining, analyzing and evaluating the competitiveness of enterprises with the help of the value chain deconstruction and cluster analysis gives an opportunity for further research by means of analyzing the trends of external and internal environment effect on the formation of competitive advantages of an enterprise.
