MOTUZYUK I. The application of local hypertermia in the combined treatment of patients with breast cancer.

Dissertation is devoted to the enhancement of the efficacy of combined treatment of patients with breast cancer by means of application of local hyperthermia. It was elaborated, investigated and tested the method of local hyperthermia in the combined therapy of breast cancer.It was shown that application of neoadjuvant chemotherapy supplemented with local hyperthermia in the treatment of breast cancer patients resulted in the enhancement of therapy results, in particularly both of tumor response and survival. This method has not influenced the number and duration of early postoperative complications. It was obtained that application of combined method allows to increase the number of organpreserved operations, to improve the quality of life, to decrease the number of recidives and metastases, to prolonge the duration of disease-free period, as well as to improve three-year overall and disease-free survival.It was summarized that the method of neoadjuvant chemotherapy supplemented with local hyperthermia demonstrates the most positive effect by the treatment of patients with stage II locally advanced breast cancer (Т1-2N1М0).
