Slipets'ka V. English Terminology of Artificial Intelligence in Context of Other Terminological Systems (A Linguostatistic Analysis).

This dissertation focuses on the linguostatistic study of structural and term-formation charachteristics of terms that function in modern English scientific texts on artificial intelligence, metal processing, aerospace technologies, finance and economics. Three categories of terms: intradomain, extradomain and common terms were analyzed. The data obtained prove that there is the interrelation between structural, term-formation characteristics and the respective term category. There exists the correlation between the term length and its frequency; between the affixation models and the term category; between the part of speech models and the term category; between the term-formation type and the term category. The main difference between the structural, term-formation characteristics of the intradomain terms that belong to the four terminologies under research lies in the frequency distribution of structural and term-formation models. The difference between four terminologies is caused by extalinguisticfactors. The cluster analysis has allowed to determine the degree of similarity between the four English terminologies.
