Essay

The object of research is a triple CaO-BaO-Al2O3 system. The purpose of the work is to develop and obtain barium-containing refractory cements based on the compositions of CaO-BaO-Al2O3 system for the creation of concrete with a high degree of protection from gamma radiation and high temperatures. Research methods are thermodynamic, kinetic, roentgen-phase, petrographic, TG, mathematic. The newness: thermodynamic constants of compounds for the CaO-BaO-Al2O3 system are calculated, mutual pair coexisting phases are identified, availability of connods is found and geometry-topological characterization of this system is presented. The theoretical and practical results consist in assignment of the CaO-BaO-Al2O3 system constitution, in definition of the optimal area, which can be used for barium-containing calcium aluminate cements recovery. Cements and concretes with high physical, mechanical and technical properties are developed, as well as resource-saving technology. Introduction of such materials is structural concrete component of protection from gamma radiation for electron accelerator. Sphere of use is in the nuclear, chemical, medical industry, in the production of refractory materials, in research institutes and the educational process.
