Farouq I. Immunological features of diagnostics and treatment of traumatic erosions of cornea

The thesis is devoted to increasing of the efficiency of treatment of the pa-tients with traumatic erosion of the cornea (TEC). 120 patients with TEC were ex-amined. The efficiency of lipophlavon eye drops in the additionally treatment of 80 patients (80 eyes) (main group) was studied. 40 patients (40 eyes) constituted con-trol group. In the patients with TEC the following was established: tear cytokine profile disturbance in the form of pro-inflammatory cytokines increase (TNF alfa, IL-1beta) and anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-4) decrease, tear protective factors de-crease (A immunoglobulin and lysocyme), activation of autoimmune and immune-complex reactions which figure prominently in the pathogenesis and course of the traumatic process. More evident changes in the tear cytokine profile and local im-munity status were observed at the increase of cornea erosion area.The use of lipophlavon additional to the basic therapy contributed to the speeding of the regeneration of the cornea and recovery of thepatients, decrease in the number of complications. Thus, cornea epithelization at the fluorescein test in the main group accelerated in 2.1 times, recovery of the patients took place 2.0+0.06 days earlier as compared to the control group. At the same time there de-creased the persistence of the subjective complains in the patients of the main group as compared to the control group, local immunity of the eye and tear cyto-kine profile indexes normalization, as well as the decrease in the intensity of auto-immune and immunecomplex reactions.
