Essay

By means of the alternating-current electrochemical technique and by direct interaction of copper(I) halides with terminal alkynes 13 copper(I) complexes have been obtained and X-ray structurally investigated by single crystal method. The CC group is pi-coordinated with one copper(I) atom in the crystal structures of nine complexes. The CC group is pi-coordinated simultaneously with two copper(I) atoms in the crystal structures of two complexes. The CC group forms two or three Cu-CC sigma-bonds in addition to pi-coordination by two Cu(I) atoms in the crystal structures of two complexes. The crystal structure dependences from type of CC group coordination by copper(I) atoms and from type of halogen atoms . The new [Cu8] metallic cluster has been discovered in 4-ampH[Cu9Cl8(CCCH2OH)2] crystal structure. The CC bond lengthening to 1,25(1) A in this complex is result of alkyne pi,sigma-activation on metallic centre. The intermediates of oxidative coupling of propargylamine have been obtained in single crystal form. [HC CCH2NH3]CuCl2 and NH4[Cu9Cl8(CCCH2NH3)2]·2H2O contain the initial substance propargylamine. [NH3CH2CCCCCH2NH3]Cu2Cl4 contains the product of reaction dimmer of propargylamine.
